Kanchenjunga base camp trekking
Among the five peaks of the Kanchenjunga, three are the border between Nepal and Sikkim and two are at the Taplejung district Nepal. Ghunsa khola, Arun river, Simkhada khola are the product from the Kanchenjunga Glacier. Kanchenjunga areas are protected by the conservation areas which is transfer to the local community of the region. If you pass the se le le after your before Kanchenjunga base camp , it will be the circle even without rounding the Kanchenjunga. You will be around the perimeter of the Kanchenjunga. Thrill of the going oktung Kanchenjunga south base camp and going to the North base camp called pangpema. In 1856 kanchenjunga discover as the third peak in the world, before they assumed the first height of the world. Around the Kanchenjunga peripheral there are 4 village committee. Kanchenjunga north base camp located the Lelep VDc and south of the Kanchenjunga base camp are in the Amphudhin VDC. Ghunsa and Amphudhin are the Major village near to the Kanchenjunga base camp in compare other. This village supporting and giving extra energy for that trip. Above the Ghunsa and Amphuhin village there are seasonal tea house or lodge. So, you can do the Kanchenjunga trekking without camping. If there is no more trekkers you have to request lodge owners to open or you have to hire local porter who open the tea house kitchen for your food around the base camp of the Kanchenjunga. From Ghunsa it take 3 days to get pangpema and two days down to the Ghunsa from the Kanchenjunga north base camp.
Similarly it take 2 days to reach Oktung(south base camp of the Kanchenjunga)from Amphudhin VDC. Then you have to cross se le le , mirgin la to reach the Gunsa village and continue to the Kanchenjunga North base camp. In contrary, if you start the trekking from Taplejung to Ghunsa first , at that time you be first North base camp of the Kanchenjunga then again back to Ghunsa. After crossing the se le le and mirgin la then after reach the Che-ram. Next day , you reach oktung then back to cheram then down to the Amphudhin village. If you are going to great Himalaya trail we recommendation the trekking starting from Amphudhin site first then it will be easy to down Basantapur direct way .
